Use Your Mobile Phone In Plane

Mobile phone calls will be allowed on planes flying in European airspace under new European Commission rules. The decision means that mobiles could be used once a plane has reached an altitude of 3,000m or more. It follows six months of consultation by the European regulator and the first services could launch next month. Viviane Reding, the EU telecoms commissioner, has warned operators to keep the cost of calls made on planes at a reasonable level. "If consumers receive shock phone bills, the service will not take-off. "I also call on airlines and operators to create the right conditions on board aircraft to ensure that those who want to use in-flight communication services do not disturb other passengers," she said. The European Commission has introduced new rules to harmonise the technical requirements for the safe in-flight use of mobile phones. The commission is also making it possible to enable the national licences granted to individual airlines by a member state to be recognised throughout the EU. The decision to offer the services now falls to individual airlines. However, there are other regulatory hurdles to overcome before the technology is considered to be fully approved. The European Aviation Safety Agency still needs to approve any hardware that would be installed in aircraft to ensure that it did not interfere with other flight systems.

Home Loans In India

One of the reasons for boom in Indian economy is that now a days loans are easily available and the rate of interests at which they are available are very reasonable. Banks are giving loan for and loan against any and every thing. Government too is encouraging people to take loans for certain purposes. For example, government is encouraging people to take housing loans by giving tax concessions. To have one's own home is the dream of every person. Now that getting a home loan is so easy it seems everyone can fulfill his / her long cherished dream. There are different types of home loans tailored to suit your requirements. These are:

Home Purchase Loans: This is the basic home loan for the purchase of a new home.

Home Improvement Loans: These loans are given for implementing repair works and renovations in a home that has already been purchased by you.

Home Construction Loan: This loan is available for the construction of a new home

Home Extension Loan: This is given for expanding or extending an existing home. For e.g.: addition of an extra room etc.

Home Conversion Loan: This is available for those who have financed the present home with a home loan and wish to purchase and move to another home for which some extra funds are required. Through home conversion loan, the existing loan is transferred to the new home including the extra amount required, eliminating the need of pre-payment of the previous loan.
Land Purchase Loans: This loan is available for purchase of land for both construction and investment purposes.

Bridge Loans: Bridge loans are designed for people who wish to sell the existing home and purchase another one. The bridge loans help finance the new home, until a buyer is found for the home.

Balance Transfer Loans: Balance transfer loans help to pay off an existing home loan and avail the option of a loan with a lower rate of interest.

Refinance Loans: This loan helps you pay off the debt you have incurred from private sources such as relatives and friends, for the purchase of your present home.

Stamp Duty Loans: This loan is sanctioned to pay the stamp duty amount that needs to be paid on the purchase of property.

Home loans are available on fixed rate of interest and floating rate of interest. In fixed rate loans, the interest rate remains fixed over the life of the loan, irrespective of the interest rates in the open market. The plus point of fixed rate loans is that they remain steady over the years, making at least one aspect of your monthly cash flow predictable. But the flip side is that the lenders charge a higher rate of interest for fixed-rate loans because if interest rates shoot up, they lose the opportunity to make more money on the funds they are lending
In floating rate loans, the rate of interest changes according to a set formula as interest rates fluctuate in the open market. The plus point is that lenders charge a lower rate for such loans because you are taking on some of the interest-rate risk. The downside is that interest rates may rise anytime and you can end up paying more than fixed rate loans.

People: Who Faced Atomic Bomb

The study of atomic bomb survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki continues to provide very useful information on the effects of radiation on man. Recently doctors examined 2452 atomic bomb survivors who got exposed to different radiation. They also evaluated the incidence of cancer in 15388 persons who were younger than 6 years at the time of bombing. Both groups belonged to the age range of 12-55 for the period of 1955-1999.
They reported dose related increase in the incidence of solid cancers in both groups. Scientist knew that radiation exposure increases risk of childhood cancers and exposure in childhood is associated with increased risk of adult cancers. But until now they knew little about whether in utero-radiation exposure leads to increased risk of adult cancersWhen US aircraft dropped the bombs Hiroshima and Nagasaki had an estimated population of 310000 and 250000 respectively. About 90000-140000 people in Hiroshima and 60000-80000 in Nagasaki died immediately or within two to four month. In 1950 Japanese national census, nearly 280000 persons stated that they had been exposed in two cities. The death in areas of about one kilometer diameter is attributable to the effect of explosion and heat. Till 1990 RERF recorded 7827 cancer deaths among the 86572 persons who, the RERF included in its Life Span Study cohort. Scientists estimated that about 850 out of 17448 solid cancers recorded during 1958-1998 may be due to radiation exposure.

Hang Your PC On The Wall

Zenith Computer has launched a new personal computer that can be hanged on the wall. It has a 17 inches LCD flat screen and comes with a keyboard and mouse. But what about the motherboard, processor, graphics card and power supply. It is the first of its kind to squeeze the entire CPU into the monitor and it designed by an Indian engineer. It is powered by a Dual Core Intel processor, one GB memory and a hard disk that starts with 80 GB. It has built-in speakers and full set of networking and wireless slots. The engineers have come up the some clever ideas: The display can be hung flat on the wall, placed upright on the desk or fitted to be a small tabletop. They call it Smart Style PC and it costs Rs. 20000 – which would be considered ‘paisa wasool’ by canny buyers.
These is a slot in the display casing to include a DVD burner for home users who might well like to throw in an external TV tuner for couple of thousand rupee and hang the SmartStyle PC on their bedroom wall where they can watch TV or movies or surf the net in comfort. With space at a premium at both home and office, the Zenith SmartStyle looks like a clever idea whose time has come.
